Google Account disabled: how to appeal
Sign in at accounts.google.com in a browser to see why your Google Account was disabled, then select Start Appeal and follow the instructions. For some policy violations Google reviews only up to 2 appeals, so put all the facts in your first one. Google does not publish a review time.

03How long it takes
No published timeline
Google does not publish a review timeline. If an appeal isn't approved and no further action is taken, Google says the account will be permanently disabled and considered for deletion.
While you wait
- Move sites that use this Gmail address for sign-in or password resets to another email you control.
- Try to download your data if Google offers it when you sign in.
- Keep a note of the date, the reason shown, and what you wrote in your appeal.
04Warn your contacts
Send this from another account or by text, so nobody falls for messages sent in your name.
Google has disabled my account [address] and I can't read email there right now. Please use [other contact] to reach me. If a message from my old address asks for money or codes, it is not me.
05Watch out for recovery scams
People who just lost an account are the main target of fake helpers. Only Google Account and Gmail's own app or website can restore your account.
- "Unban" and account-unlock services that charge a fee. Only Google can review a disabled account, through the appeal in your account. How it works
- Fake "Google support" phone numbers in search results and ads. Google says you can't call Google for help to sign in to your account. How it works
- Calls from "Google Account Security". Google says it never calls you about your account security, and never asks for codes or device approvals by phone. How it works
06Once you're back in: lock it down
Then do the 24-hour cleanup.
07How it probably happened
- Most likely
Someone took over the account and used it for spam or scams
How this scam works - Also common
Activity or content that Google says breaks its policies (the sign-in page shows the reason)
- Less common
A password reused from a breached site that let someone else in
