$300M

Status: Final
What happened
Alabama settled claims that TikTok Inc. built its platform with addictive features, knowingly exposed young users to serious mental harm, and misled the public about its safety. The case was set for trial the following week and would have been the first state case against TikTok to reach trial.
The headline figure is conditional, so the directory totals count only the guaranteed $100M floor; the release does not list the conditions that would raise the payment to $300M.
How it affected users
Teen accounts get a two-hour daily limit, prompts to pause after 15, 60 and 90 minutes, an overnight block from midnight to 6am, and limits on messaging and notifications at night and during school hours. TikTok must also strengthen age assurance and parental controls, limit adults' discovery of teen accounts, ban cosmetic filters for teens, and make a non-personalised feed the default for them.
