About

Stripe Startups is a fee-offset program rather than a product credit. You get credits applied against your Stripe processing fees, plus a capped Invoicing rate starting at 0.4% and limited to $10 per invoice.

Stripe does not publish a dollar figure. Its FAQ says offer amounts vary by type, arriving either as fee credits or as waived processing on a set payment volume, so the value scales with what you are already processing. The offer expires 12 months after you activate it, or when you hit your offer limit, whichever comes first.

Venture backing is required and this is the part that disqualifies most applicants. Your application must include proof of institutional funding, whether a PitchBook link, a funding announcement, or equivalent documentation. You also need an active, fully verified Stripe account on standard pricing in a supported country, and you must not have received an offer before.

A referral is optional rather than required. You can use a private link from your investor or accelerator, or apply directly at stripe.com/startups. Review takes two to three business days.

This is separate from Stripe Atlas, which is the $500 incorporation product and carries its own perk bundle. Atlas is listed separately in this directory, and the two do not overlap.

What else you get

  • Stripe Invoicing capped at 0.4% and $10 per invoice
  • Applies against fees you are already paying rather than a separate product balance

What credits cover (and don't)

✓ Covered
  • Stripe payment processing fees
  • Stripe Invoicing
✗ Not covered
  • Stripe Atlas incorporation, which is a separate product and program

Tactical tips

  • Tip 1.Activate when your volume is ramping, not the day you are approved, because the 12-month window starts at activation.
  • Tip 2.The offer ends at the 12-month mark or your offer limit, whichever comes first, so model both.
  • Tip 3.Separate from Stripe Atlas. You can incorporate through Atlas and take this offer too.

Common rejection reasons

  • No documented institutional funding
  • Account not fully verified, or already on negotiated pricing

Frequently asked about Stripe Startups

Is Stripe Startups free to apply?

Yes. Applying to Stripe Startups does not cost anything and does not require giving up equity. Some programs require a payment method on file that activates only after credits are consumed or expire, check the program detail page for specifics.

How long does Stripe Startups take to review applications?

Processing times are shown on the program detail page. Most programs reply within 1–3 weeks. Self-serve tiers (like AWS Activate Founders) can approve in 2–7 days; partner-referred tiers (like AWS Activate Portfolio) usually take 5–10 days.

Can I combine Stripe Startups with other startup programs?

Most programs stack. The "Stacks well with" section on each detail page lists commonly combined programs. A few important exceptions: if you already claimed AWS credits via Brex or Mercury, your direct AWS Activate amount may be reduced.

What is the most common reason applications to Stripe get rejected?

The top rejection reasons are (1) using a personal Gmail/Outlook address instead of a company domain, (2) having a thin or placeholder website, and (3) mismatched information between the application and Crunchbase/Pitchbook. The tips section on the program page details program-specific factors.
