Lex Fridman Podcast

Editorial pick

Hosted by Lex Fridman

Long-form conversations across AI, science, and culture, guest-list-driven.

Interview Weekly 60+ min· ~450 episodes· Started 2018

Editorial take

An odd entry on a tech-and-SaaS list because the show isn't about tech specifically. It's here for two reasons: first, the AI/ML interviews (Hassabis, Karpathy, Sutskever, Altman) are technical enough to be useful and accessible enough to be quotable; second, the unhurried 3-hour format lets guests think out loud in ways shorter shows don't. Skip the political and culture-war episodes, the value is in the engineering, mathematics, and AI conversations.

Last hand-checked 2026-05-09.

Listen if you …

  • you want extended, technical-leaning conversations with AI researchers
  • you can pick episodes selectively (not every guest is your beat)
  • you appreciate unhurried thinking over zinger-driven interviews

Skip if you …

  • you bounce off the introspective monologue intros
  • you find the political/culture-war guests off-putting (skip those, stay for the AI ones)

If you only listen to one

Andrej Karpathy: Tesla AI, Self-Driving, Optimus, AGI, and the Future of AI

Karpathy's clearest public articulation of how to think about LLM training infrastructure. Quoted endlessly by AI engineers afterwards.

About the show

MIT-affiliated researcher Lex Fridman's long-form interview show. Conversations regularly run 3+ hours and span AI, mathematics, physics, culture, and politics.

For a tech directory, the AI episodes are what justify inclusion: Lex has had on most of the consequential modern AI researchers, and the format gives them room to think out loud rather than perform.

Notable guests

  • Andrej Karpathy
  • Demis Hassabis
  • Ilya Sutskever
  • Sam Altman
  • Yann LeCun
  • Geoffrey Hinton

If Lex Fridman Podcast works for you, these likely will too.
