Stytch alternatives.
Stytch is a Twilio company as of 14 November 2025. Teams leave for a visual editor, for Next.js UI, for FGA, or because they do not want the communications-stack roadmap. This page ranks replacements by that pain, from the same matrix.
Ranked on: best replacement by pain point
Read the Stytch profile for the full verdict these pains are drawn from.
Why teams leave Stytch
- Ownership. Twilio closed the deal on 14 November 2025. The product is still separate from Verify. The roadmap is not independent.
- No visual orchestration. Code-first teams love it. Teams that wanted Descope Flows do not.
- No native FGA. Same gap as Clerk.
- No FedRAMP. Same gap as most of the developer-first tier.
The alternatives, ranked
Descope
same passkey score, visual FlowsYou want a canvas and production MCP, not more SDK.
Descope is the closest orchestration peer, not a passkey peer. The split is canvas vs passwordless-native.
Adaptive MFA, Terraform, push MFA, ABAC. Smaller community than Stytch.
- Best for
- Teams that picked Stytch for passwordless and now want orchestration as a product.
- Watch out for
- Independent company, smaller ecosystem. Confirm MCP against your agent RFP.
Clerk
Next.js UIStytch DX is fine. Clerk UI is why the frontend team is lobbying.
Clerk wins when components matter more than a 5 vs 4 passkey score.
Cheaper to start. Weaker federation and compliance.
- Best for
- React teams that over-bought a passkey specialist.
- Watch out for
- You will give up orchestration quality. Measure enrollment before you switch.
Auth0
generalist plus agentsYou need FGA, FedRAMP, or mixed B2C plus B2B.
Auth0 wins the rest of the matrix. It loses passkey conversion.
Packaged agent SKUs. Steep MAU curve. Pair an overlay if you still need Stytch-like prompts.
- Best for
- Stytch teams that outgrew passwordless-only scope.
- Watch out for
- Do not switch for passkeys. Auth0 is a 3/5 there.
WorkOS
B2B onlyYou bought Stytch B2B and only needed SSO.
WorkOS wins if consumer passwordless was never the job.
AuthKit free to 1M MAU. Not a passkey specialist.
- Best for
- B2B SaaS that used Stytch as an expensive SSO stand-in.
- Watch out for
- Consumer flows will regress.
Corbado
overlay, keep the IdPYou want Stytch prompts on a different directory.
Corbado wins when the leave-reason is vendor, not UX, and the directory stays.
Passkey specialist overlay. Not a full CIAM. See the overlay guide.
- Best for
- Teams moving directory off Stytch but keeping orchestration.
- Watch out for
- Two vendors. Only worth it if the IdP is staying.

How to choose
- If passkeys are still the job, prefer Descope over Auth0; keep Stytch if Twilio is acceptable.
- If Next.js UI is the job, Clerk, and accept a 4/5 passkey score.
FAQ
- Is Stytch still independent?
- No. Twilio announced 30 October 2025 and closed 14 November 2025. The API is still Stytch, not Verify. Alternatives on this page assume you may not want that parent.
- Who replaces Stytch for passkeys?
- Descope, on Compass scores. Clerk if UI matters more. An overlay (Corbado, Hanko) if the directory is not moving.
- Should I switch off Stytch because of Twilio?
- Only if the communications-stack roadmap is a problem for you. The product did not become Verify. Switching to save independence has a 60 to 90 day cost. Measure that against actual roadmap risk, not a press release.
